Ingredients:

  1. 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  2. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  3. 1/3 cup milk
  4. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  6. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  7. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  8. 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  9. Salt to taste
  10. For the topping:
  11. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  12. 1/3 cup flour
  13. 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and diced
  14. 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Preparing the Casserole:

  1. Boil the sweet potatoes until tender, then drain and mash with melted butter and milk.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Spread the mixture into a greased baking dish.

Topping and Baking:

  1. In a bowl, mix brown sugar and flour for the topping. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Stir in the chopped pecans and sprinkle over the sweet potato mixture.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, until the topping is golden brown.
